Completely incomplete apart from God: Isaiah 54 and 55

I love how Scripture is  poignantly intentional to hit at the heart of the human condition. God designed us to be complete but when we allowed sin to entice and separate us from Him we became completely incomplete. We are all craving acceptance and identity and more often we define ourselves by what we do not have. I am not married, successful, loved, rich, or happy. What does God tell those who are lacking and incomplete? “‘Sing, O barren one, who did not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud, you who have not been in labor! For the children of the desolate one will be more than the children of her who is married,’ says the LORD.” Isaiah 54:1 God desires those who are incomplete to celebrate and sing for joy. Why is that? How can we sing for joy in the midst of our despair? Continue Reading…

Experience the transformative love of God :Song of Solomon 5 and 6

Can you convey the love that you feel to the people around you? Can love be truly conveyed through words or speech? Love is contained within the summation of the heart, mind, soul, and strength. God has woven love into the fiber of our being because we were made in His image.  ”I adjure you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if you find my beloved, that you tell him I am sick with love. What is your beloved more than another beloved, O must beautiful among women? What is your beloved more than another beloved, that you thus adjure us?” Song of Solomon 5:8,9  People cannot fully grasp the passion of true love unless they have first experienced such a love. We all long for the acceptance of true love but often a pale and shallow love is embraced before true love and fully blossom. Continue Reading…

Simplicity of dependance: Psalm 13

When life starts to drag on and you feel lost in the torrent of life what do you do? David was a man that endured many sleepless nights fleeing for his life from many enemies and adversaries. Do you think David was always steadfast and hopeful as he faced each difficult moment? Where did David find hope? In the midst of the depressing moments of life when death felt like the only escape David turned towards God for his hope. He trusted in the lovingkindness of God for his salvation. His faithfulness and lovingkindness will bring hope and wholeness to your bruised and beaten life. No matter where you find yourself today God is more than able to restore your joy and hope. Can you stop your striving and rest in God? Take time to just cling to God today.

Unconditional love and devotion remembered by God: Ruth 1 and 2

How do you react in times of trial and tribulation? Do you desire to take the easy way out making your burden, grief, or pain easier to bear? Does persistence in troubled times pay off? As the story of Judges plays out where God raises up people to deliver Israel in the midst of their disobedience we are given hope because all of Israel has not fallen away from God as evidenced in the book of Ruth. A desire for more in life than the here and now

music-n-lyrics-film-740479Ok, I never knew that Hugh Grant could sing. The movie Music & Lyrics is a very funny movie! The movie is worth seeing just for the 80′s music video. It was a great diversion to spend the night at the theater.

And

The movie Bridge to Terabithia was a good movie but I will warn you it is not what you may expect. I would like to say more but it would spoil the plot.

On another subject….. Why do we desire unconditional love. Now the love that I speak of is not a love that a parent or friend can give. This unconditional love that I desire is the place where I can share my deepest hopes, dreams, fears, ambitions, regrets, and pain. Continue Reading…

Hopes desire grounded at Calvary

Life-Ring02What is in a life? Why was my life chosen? How could it be worth dying? How could desire compel someone so much? Did it really happen to me? Does love fall upon me? How do I not deserve death? Could I give up everything? Can this lusting flesh prevail? How can I repay? A gift? A death? A Savior?

Life will hope again because of what Christ has done on the cross. No sin that you commit will ever be too great for Christ to cover fully. God loves you so much that he gave His son to die on that cross.

Thank you for loving me Lord!
