When foolishness abounds as the wicked prosper: Psalm 52

Take heed to the words of Psalm 52. What do you boast in? Do you a boast in God alone or are you  boasting and delighting in the pervasive evil of this world? When you build up your wealth and possessions do you choose to stand upon them with your hands extended proclaiming what you have accomplished? David is sending a message to everyone who boast in anything but the God of heaven and earth. If you choose to boast in the things of this world you will be brought low by God and all your accumulations will be meaningless. We are unable to cut our own path to our own salvation. We need to fall before the cross of calvary and cray our for God’s intercession and deliverance. Fear God and find your hope in Him for men can take away your possessions and your life itself but only God is the one who will cast people into everlasting torment in hell. Continue Reading…

All of creation is God’s but all are not His children: Psalm 50

Is your life this very moment marked by a passionate relationship with God? Have you placed your full trust in the work of Jesus Christ on the cross for the redemption of your soul? It is an absolutely necessity to know whether you are a child of God of a child of wrath because a day is coming for you to give an account of your life to God. ”The Mighty One, God, the Lord, has spoken, and summoned the earth from the rising of the sun to it setting. Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God has shone forth, May our God come and not keep silence; fire devours before Him, and it is very tempestuous around Him. He summons the heavens above, and the earth, to judge His people: ‘Gather My godly ones to Me, those who have made a covenant with Me by sacrifice.’ And the  heavens declare His righteousness, for God Himself is judge.” Psalm 50:1-6  God is coming to judge His creation; will you be acknowledge as His child? Strength, salvation and blessing in abundance: Psalm 21

We are richly blessed by God; in Psalm 21 we are told how God has done so much for the king of Israel. Strength, salvation, blessing, splendor and majesty were all given to the king in abundance by God. What is noteworthy about the king of Israel? His trust of is placed in God alone and the enabling power of God works through these men to accomplish God’s will. Does it seem like this Psalm doesn’t have much to say to the christian today? We are not kings and we do not seek victory in battle. If you are thinking about moving on to another Psalm please take another look at Psalm 21 and as you read through all the blessings think about all the blessings that you have in Jesus Christ. We are given strength, salvation and blessing in abundance from Jesus Christ. We are enabled to live through this sinful world bringing glory to God because of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. Turn to the true salvation found in Jesus Christ: Psalm 14

Have you ever kicked up an ant hill or knocked down a hornets nest? What happens? The ants and hornets are placed in deathly peril and they are disorganized but they futilely attempt to defend and repair their existence to restore a sense of normalcy. What happens if you disturb them again? The futile cycle will continue on.

The lives of the people who choose to deny God are in the same position as the ants and hornets. The wicked of this world are so intent on repairing their lives that they do not acknowledge God and his authority. As David wrote in Psalm 14, it is complete and total foolishness to reject God. The people of this world need to acknowledge and turn away from their futile attempts at salvation and turn to the true salvation found in Jesus Christ.

Simplicity of dependance: Psalm 13

When life starts to drag on and you feel lost in the torrent of life what do you do? David was a man that endured many sleepless nights fleeing for his life from many enemies and adversaries. Do you think David was always steadfast and hopeful as he faced each difficult moment? Where did David find hope? In the midst of the depressing moments of life when death felt like the only escape David turned towards God for his hope. He trusted in the lovingkindness of God for his salvation. When we face moments where death seems like the only comfort we have we need to look away from our circumstances and towards God. His faithfulness and lovingkindness will bring hope and wholeness to your bruised and beaten life. No matter where you find yourself today God is more than able to restore your joy and hope. Can you stop your striving and rest in God? Take time to just cling to God today.

Grace to indebted, oppressed, and strangers: Exodus 21 and 22

In Exodus 18:17-27 Jethro gives advice to Moses about how to rule the people of Israel. In Exodus 12:37 you can easily say that there were at least 2 million men, women, and children. It seems that Exodus 21 and following are laying out how to govern the people of Israel. With such a concentration of people there are bound to be disputes and crimes.
