God is Hope. God is Promise. God is Restoration. God is Holy. God is Father. God is. “You shall no more be termed Forsaken, and your land shall no more be termed Desolate, but you shall be called My Delight Is in Her, and your land Married; for the LORD delights in you, and your land shall be married. For as a young man marries a young woman, so shall your sons marry you, and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.” Isaiah 62:4,5 We only are because God is. Simply put without God there would be nothing. It can only be by God’s gracious favor that we aspire to endure. Continue Reading…

Find your trust in God’s faithfulness and sufficiency: Psalm 138
Do you believe that God answers every prayer? Do you view answered prayers as the ones with results matching your expectations? Do not fall into the habit of believing that God’s care and concern for you is summed up in whether you get what you desire. Remember that when God decides that your desire is not ultimately best for your life that He is answering your prayer. Are you willing to rest in God and wait on Him? Do you respond with humility, thankfulness, and reverence to God? Do you find strength in God? ”On the day I called, You answered me; You made me bold with strength in my soul.” Psalm 138:3 It is imperative that we trust God and believe that He will work for our best when we come to Him in prayer. ”The Lord will accomplish what concerns me; Your lovingkindness, O Lord, is everlasting; do not forsake the works of Your hands.” Psalm 138:8 Will you trust in God’s faithfulness? Will you trust in the sufficiency of God? Continue Reading…
A matter of expression and reflection: Psalm 66
When you meet with friends do you take time to share stories of what has happened since you last met? What stories do you share? This connection with our friends allows us to relate what matters most to us. Do you have this type of relationship with God? Do you run to Him to tell of all that has happened in your life? Is God your loving and faithful friend? “Come and hear, all who fear God, and I will tell of what He has done for my soul. I cried to Him with my mouth, and He was extolled with my tongue. If I regard wickedness in my heart, the Lord will not hear; but certainly God has heard; He has given heed to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, Who has not turned away my prayer nor His lovingkindness from me.” Psalm 16-20 Continue Reading…
Mighty men and their mighty leader David: 2 Samuel 23 and 24
When your epitaph is written how do you want people to remember you? I love how David is described in 2 Samuel 23:1, “David the son of Jesse, declares, the man who was raised on high declares, the anointed of the God of Jacob declares, and the sweet psalmist of Israel.” After your life is spent will you live with regret over the life that you lived? I want to be remembered as David was for his relationship with God because nothing else that can be said would mean anything apart from my faith in God. When the end of life comes your strength and physical prowess will mean absolutely nothing. All the knowledge you have accumulated throughout your life will be foolishness when it cannot bring you help. In the end when life meets death the only factor that will bring hope and assurance will be your faith and foundation in Jesus Christ and His death on the cross. Continue Reading…
Silver trumpets heralding the Israelites journey: Numbers 9 and 10
“Rise up, O Lord!
And let Your enemies be scattered,
And let those who hate You flee before You.”
– Numbers 10:35
The Israelites are setting out in Numbers chapter 10 to claim the land that God had promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. What an amazing site it must have been to hear the ring of a silver trumpet and then the orchestration of the multiple millions began as the Israelites set out and follow God. The image that is given in Numbers chapters 9 and 10 is one of dependance. The only time that the Israelites moved the camp was when God raised the cloud up from the Tabernacle. Continue Reading…
A form of passion?
I sit here tonight and I am passionately praying. I cannot express the turmoil I feel in my heart and I do not know exactly what I’m praying for. I am passionately asking God for help because he knows exactly why I am praying. When I think about the praying I do not find myself praying passionately. Passion is a strong barely controllable emotion which is what am experiencing right now. I may be doing things like writing this blog post, listening to music, or reading a book later but my mind in not dwelling in these activities. My soul is crying out to God for help! I know God is faithful and will answer my prayer in His perfect way. What an awesome form of worship this is! I have many times taken prayer too lightly but not right now. Continue Reading…
Do all things for the glory of God even in the down times of life
“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” Colossians 3:17
What a thought for life. I have been sulking over my life lately. I have been down, grumpy, and full of apathy. I have not really cared about anything. It is an impossible cycle for me to break. I can only leave this state of mind when God allows it. I was faced with a choice tonight. I could openly sin before God or I could read my Bible. I’ll be honest that sinning sounded like the best choice and the most enjoyable at the moment. Yet by the grace of God I choose to seek Him. I read through Colossians and was rewarded with Living water which my parched spirit needed.
It is interesting how EVERY SINGLE THING in life is of great importance to God. Continue Reading…
God is the litmus test for fear, hope and love
I sit here at night and I remember a girl I once loved. What triggers a memory? It is easy to get wrapped up into wishing, hoping, and dreaming of what may have happened. I know it was never meant work out but I still ache for that special love of a girl. Why is it that when you love someone deeply that you are forever marked by their memory.
Smalltown Poets wrote a song called “Hold It Up to the Light”. The song expresses the inherent fear in all of us…… What do I do? This one question applies to love, work, church, play, family, pizza, marbles, clothing, furry bunnies, anything. Every moment in our life we make decisions small and large. Instead of fearing about what to do we need to hold it up to the light. God is the ultimate litmus test in our life. He knows what is best for us. That is what I have learned about my desire for love. God said no and I have to trust that decision. God has someone for me and one day I will see that His will was best. Continue Reading…
