The legacy of glacier melting and Rich Mullins

I’m lying here in bed and I just finished watching a NOVA documentary about glaciers melting. Glaciers are massive and they seem unmovable but when you look at pictures over time you can really see the changes in them. I’m not looking to debate the effect of humans on global climate because I’d much rather talk about legacy. When a glacier melts completely it dies but you are able to see that there was a glacier present. The errosion of the ground and the boulders are sign posts to the glacier. When I die what will my legacy be? Will the lack of my existence be noticable? Continue Reading…

A holy calling by grace through faith in Christ: Leviticus 21 and 22

In Leviticus 21 and 22 rules and laws are given by God for Aaron and his descendants for all generations. The priests were not allowed to approach a dead person unless it was a relative and the high priest was forbidden to approach a dead body even of his own relatives. The priest’s needed to live above reproach. They needed to follow God’s commands in regard to mourning death. When customs in that time were to shave your head, cut your beard, and cut your body in mourning the priests could not because they were set apart by God as Holy. Continue Reading…

Only provision for this fallen world is Jesus Christ

091_160Today I am brutally reminded that pain is a live in the world. All around me I see many people hurting. A good friend of mine that I worked at Apple with has had another stroke which was very seious. My heart aches for his family. My mom finds herself hurting after a long day of work. Sin has cursed this world. Where do we find the hope we need?

I know the only hope I have is that Christ died for me on the cross. Without that wonderful cross I would be swept away in in the current of pain and despair. I actually think that it is more painful to stand firm upon God’s provision. Continue Reading…

I feel awful but God still reigns

Photo 119I’m home from a stay at the hospital. I will post more specifics later. I really ache and have a fever tonight. My soul is weary right now. But God knows that and is caring for me tonight. Through all of this the truth remains that God is God and there is peace in the storm of life because of my Truth.

Benchmark for life contained in a boiling pot of water and some noodles

imageToday I have crossed a new benchmark in life. I boiled water and cooked some noodles. Now this may not seem like that big of a deal but that pot of water is the first time I have been able to stand and cook in over 2 years. It has been a long road to get here. I was able to help do the dishes yesterday also! I would have to say that my recovery is going great! It is nice to feel like I am 7 foot tall. There are many doctors and nurses who are shocked when they see me stand up and I tower over them.

I pray that you will find encouragement knowing that God is active in this world. God is not sitting idle as we travel through this world. I have seen God over these last years work in many great and mighty ways. It is as John states that Jesus did many other things then were written in the Bible. Continue Reading…

Rabbit Trail No.1

w05trailsmI am sitting here wondering what to write down. But nothing comes to my mind. I am at peace with everything in my life right now. My foot seems to be holding up really well. I saw the doctor and he put a new cast on my leg and told me to start putting weight on my foot. I am confident that all will be ok right now. I think back to the times when my life was seemed to be falling apart and I didn’t know which way to go. That seems like a distant memory from today. How easily we forget what really matters. I am so thankful to God for what he has brought me through. And now I don’t have anything to say but I know that is a few words something will jump into my mind….. I am going to a place called the Melting Pot tomorrow with my mom and sister to celebrate my birthday tomorrow. It is a lot of fun to eat fondu…… Fondu is a great way to eat. Continue Reading…
