Can a leader be effective if there is jealousy, desire for renown, or blind ambition in a their life? In 2 Chronicles 21 and 22 the choice Jehoshaphat made to align with Ahab by marriage has an adverse effect on his sons. Did these wives taken from Israel by Jehoshaphat’s sons draw them away from God? Idolatry became the status quo for Judah just as it was for Israel. Strength and courage of a promiscuous woman: Joshua 1 and 2

Moses has died and it is time for the Israelites to move to take possession of the promised land. Reading Joshua makes me excited because I am back to reading a narrative story about the people of Israel instead of the law which was detailed thoroughly in Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. How will the people honor and follow God’s command to obey Him? Will Joshua be an effective leader and instill dependance upon God? Do we trust God to take on the harlot in life: reflection on Hosea 1

31_131I just finished a study and it was suggested that I read Hosea chapter 1 because it is a great expression of God’s grace and love. I cannot deny that God expresses His love in a very real and tangible way. How often we are driven to seek out sin and fulfill the desires of our wicked ways. How often do we forsake God’s commands and laws? Even though Israel had strayed from God they were never forsaken by Him. God will restore His people and it will only be by His power. We will never be able to make a way for ourselves our of our condition. It is only God who  can save us. Read more
