God’s skillful artisans used in Exodus 31 and 32

I love how the question I had about the skill of the artisans (here) was answered in Exodus 31. You have Bezalel and Ahisamach by name but all craftsman with skill were given even more skill. When you hear God speak of Bezalel it is truly wonderful, “I have filled him with the spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship, to make artistic designs for work in gold, in silver, and in bronze, and in the cutting of stones for settings, and in the carving of wood, that he may work in all kinds of craftsmanship.” I long to see what everything looked like. Even though the items seem amazing it needs to be remembered that this is just a glimpse and a poor blurry glimpse at that of who God is and what heaven will be like. Continue Reading…

Grace to indebted, oppressed, and strangers: Exodus 21 and 22

In Exodus 18:17-27 Jethro gives advice to Moses about how to rule the people of Israel. In Exodus 12:37 you can easily say that there were at least 2 million men, women, and children. It seems that Exodus 21 and following are laying out how to govern the people of Israel. With such a concentration of people there are bound to be disputes and crimes. The ordinances laid down by God will help the men appointed to judge make correct and fair decisions. Continue Reading…

You give me joy that’s unspeakable

12_163James 1:2-4

“Consider it all joy, my brethern, when you face trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” Continue Reading…

A promise to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: Genesis Summary

Genesis is all about beginnings for the people God chose. You with God who created everything including Adam and Eve. God’s promise to create a great nation is woven through out the story. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob all share in God’s blessing as their families grow and multiply. I think that I was most intrigued with the story of Abraham sacrificing Isaac. I feel the weight of what God has done by sending Jesus to die for me when I look at Abraham and Isaac. I should have died a sinners death but God stayed the blade meant for me and plunged it into Jesus. I am so unworthy on my own but I can stand secure in God’s grace because of Christ.

Two steps towards forever

045_149I am amazed to look back at where I have come in the last few years. I seem to be always coming to this point where I am always looking back at my life with a great sense of amazement. I suppose the reason I keep having these moments of refection comes from my amazement that I am actually doing good. I could have lost my foot and my health could have declined. It is only by God’s grace that I am here today. Continue Reading…

Letting go of the past to embrace the future by the Grace of God

003_169Hey God how are things going? You know I can finally see that you are asking me to let go of my desires for my life… I really find that difficult to do! I see things in life that I want and they seem like the best thing in the world. -BUT- I am reminded of every other time in my life that I thought there was a perfect thing that I wanted that was not so perfect after all. I need your help to let go and not desire anything but you. It feels painful to follow your will Lord but in the end it is best. Waiting for your time… -Me

Do all things for the glory of God even in the down times of life

Photo 125“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.” Colossians 3:17

What a thought for life. I have been sulking over my life lately. I have been down, grumpy, and full of apathy. I have not really cared about anything. It is an impossible cycle for me to break. I can only leave this state of mind when God allows it. I was faced with a choice tonight. I could openly sin before God or I could read my Bible. I’ll be honest that sinning sounded like the best choice and the most enjoyable at the moment. Yet by the grace of God I choose to seek Him. I read through Colossians and was rewarded with Living water which my parched spirit needed.

It is interesting how EVERY SINGLE THING in life is of great importance to God. Continue Reading…

I hurt and ache all over but no pain gets no gain

F9100Today was the first day of the rest of my life, I hope. I have finally come to the conclusion that if I want to live a long and full life I need to make some major changes in my life. I joined a health and fitness center last week and enrolled in a special program for people who need a “jump start” recovering from illness. I have not actually worked out since mid 2001. Let me tell you that I didn’t want to go this morning, not at all! Continue Reading…
