Exodus is the continuation of the promise and story that began in Genesis. You have the ancestors of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob who were left in Egypt at the end of Genesis and throughout Exodus we see God working in mighty ways to show His glory through freeing the Israelites. Continue Reading…

The latest and greatest, a humorous look at amputation
So i just found out that I am going to be having surgery on this upcoming Monday the 30th. I really hope it is a morning surgery because I hate being told I can’t have breakfast or lunch… that is cruel and unusual punishment. So I suppose you may wonder why I am having surgery and what is happening. Well I have ‘interesting’ feet that have been getting fixed over the last few years. Well I ended up with a sore and infection in one of my toes on my right foot so the best course of action is to amputate the toes. Continue Reading…
A continuation of Israel’s story: Exodus 1 and 2
All the generations who moved into Egypt. The new pharaoh had no memory or knowledge of Joseph. I think it is interesting how time has and affect on us. I wonder if the people of Israel were like a frog in a slowly warming pot a water. Did they not notice any problem at first? I think what I wrestle with is the fact that God is sovereign in all he does. I see pain, injustice, and wrong through my eyes but God sees His perfect will and work. If it were not for God’s faithfulness to us we would be lost. Continue Reading…
God’s blessing found in difficulty: Genesis 37 and 38
It is a wonderful blessing that the dismal ending of the story of Joseph doesn’t end after chapter 37. I think many times while we are in the midst of a difficult situation we sometimes forget to keep reading to see what happens. God is so very faithful to us. He knew exactly what was happening and it was for the good of Jacob’s entire family. I know I can lack that trust at times to know that God is sufficient and able to do anything. Continue Reading…
Remember God’s faithfulness: Genesis 31 and 32
In church we have been looking at the book of Mark and how the disciples are constantly forgetting what God has done. They forget that Jesus fed the 4000 and 5000, healed many people, and drove out demons. I think it is inherent in man to forget what God has done and who He is. In Genesis 31:13 God reminds Jacob where he has been and where he is going. I wonder if Jacob got caught up in all the workings of life like we do today? Having over 12 children, many servants, and a lot of livestock. There are a lot of times when I get consumed in the things of life so much that I forget to keep my focus where it is necessary. Thankfully God is faithful to remind us where we came from and where we are going. Life is a journey where we build our relationships with God and others as we seek God’s will. Continue Reading…
God’s faithfulness even through deception: Genesis 27 and 28
I wonder if what the Lord said to Rebekah in Genesis 25:23 was on her mind when she helped Jacob deceive Isaac? It is amazing how our human natures so many times take a forefront in our life yet God uses them for good.
My heart and mind are distracted today because many people who I love dearly are hurting and finding times are difficult. All I can say I God is ALWAYS faithful. Continue Reading…
God’s rescue of Lot from Sodom and Gomorrah in Genesis 19 and 20
I think the most interesting thoughts I have had in reading Genesis 19 and 20 are just “why” questions. I think of why was Lot in the city? Did Lot recognize the angels as angels? Why is the story of Lot’s daughters sleeping with Lot included? It seems like a lot of things that don’t add up. The story shows how depraved humans can be and how lost we are apart from God. I find encouragement when I see the faithfulness of God. God is faithful and remembers Abraham and He rescues Lot. I am so thankful that God is in control and faithful.
