Just as we leave Abram rescuing Lot in Genesis 14 we find in chapter 15 that God is promising Abram that He will provide abundantly for Him. It is interesting how Abram responds to God in questioning what good is wealth and status if he has no heir. Abram doubts because he and his wife Sarai were getting older and it was unlikely that they would have children. This makes me wonder what areas do I trust God implicitly and what areas do i think are impossible for God to fulfill? Abram’s faith and his rescue of Lot and God’s Genesis 13 and 14
I love the picture that we have of the family community in Genesis 13 and 14. God had richly blessed both Lot and Abram to the point where the land couldn’t support them both. Abram loved Lot enough to let him choose where he wanted to take his herds and people. In this God also directed Abram to show the promise of the land his people would one day inherit. God’s story taken a page at a time: Genesis 11 and 12
>What faith Abram had to leave all he knew for a place he didn’t know! I am amazed to think about how faith is a journey. When I look at the beginning story of Abram I am easily found thinking that I could never do that. When in reality Abram just took one step of faith at a time.
