re•flex |ˈrēˌfleks| : an action that is performed as a response to a stimulus and without conscious thought
Can a reflex be learned? Can a repeated process lead to development of a reflex? When you think of all that you do throughout your day how many things are accomplished by reflex actions? What reflex action takes place when you are overcome by the circumstances surrounding you? Do you have a spiritual reflex that causes you to run to God when you face trouble? In Psalm 54 David’s reflex to run to God for help takes over as he faces overwhelming foes, “Save me, O God, by Your name, and vindicate me by Your power.” Psalm 54:1
When we are overwhelmed how can we first and foremost run to God for help? To run to God dictates that we have an unwavering trust in the provision, deliverance and salvation of God. We need to know the everlasting and faithful God of heaven and earth from clinging to the scripture and by seeing firsthand His work in our lives. As we experience God’s faithfulness our instinctive reflex will be to run to God for every need we have.
