Have you noticed the inherent foolishness of humanity? We strive and toil to make a name for ourselves but we only reap death for all our perceived prowess and power. We spiral into deeper depths of corruption when we are left to our own ways. What if this was humanities epitaph, “Death, despair and hopelessness abounded for mankind. Then death came calling.”? Would there be reason to hope ? In Psalm 53 David proclaims how inherently sinful and wicked all men are. The fact that no man could obtain God’s favor was apparent to David. Out of this reality of man’s inability David longs for the deliverance and salvation of Israel. ”Oh, that the salvation of Israel would come out of Zion! Where God restores His captive people, let Jacob rejoice, let Israel be glad.” Psalm 53:6
A day came when the salvation of Israel and mankind was birthed in a manger. The salvation for man through the infant Jesus would not be realized until His death upon the cross of Calvary brought restoration of communion with God. I encourage you to leave behind the death and destruction that is your inherent outlook for life and turn to the hopeful cross of Calvary to find a renewed purpose for life. Out of heaven Jesus Christ came to free you from the captivity and bondage of sin that has held you fast to death and despair. Rejoice and be glad because the salvation of God is at hand.
