Uncommon Hero

Photo 269I sit and dream of glory, love, and adventure. Is it the boy in me that wishes he were able to rescue a girl? Is it the hero’s in the books I read that makes me want to be one? Is it the adventure I see in the movies I watch and the video games I play? At first glance I feel stuck where I am and I don’t see any way out of the monotony of my life in to the life I wish for myself. I wonder if this life I live is all that I will ever have? I think it is common that people desire more in their life but I think my problem lies in my perspective. As the saying goes “The grass is greener on the other side of the fence.” but in my life if I hop the fence I will find a barren wasteland. I want love, adventure and to be a hero but I think that enduring the monotony of life leads to a heros, adventure, and love. The single mother or father raising their children, unsure and scared in the night is a hero. The boy who is sick and clings to the sheets during the endless night praying for morning is a hero. A girl who will never walk or run again finding peace in that reality is a hero. Who is a hero? It is we who stand, fail and fall daily with never giving in or up that find the adventure that God has given to us. Perspective is key to the life that we see ourselves living. God loves us and proclaims that “I know the plans I have for you… plans for welfare and not calamity to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 NASB. In the midst of the monotony of life remember that there is an eternal plan that has your best interest at heart.
