Abram’s faith and his rescue of Lot and God’s Genesis 13 and 14

I love the picture that we have of the family community in Genesis 13 and 14. God had richly blessed both Lot and Abram to the point where the land couldn’t support them both. Abram loved Lot enough to let him choose where he wanted to take his herds and people. In this God also directed Abram to show the promise of the land his people would one day inherit. When Lot was captured the bonds of family were great enough to make Abram pursue Lot to free him. What am I willing to do for my family and friends? It is easy to think that I would do that but would I really. It is easier to sit in the comfort of my life instead of going out into the unknown where I must depend upon God. That very unknown of life is where Abram lived his life. He took the step of faith necessary to start walking and He just followed God. He know that God had a purpose and promise of his life! How amazing it is to stand in victory in life knowing that whatever happens God is God of it ALL! I love how Abram refuses the goods rescued. He knew that God was the one who gave him everything that was necessary for life.

In life can I live at peace with God in the midst of the unknown? Can I trust that in my every experience of life that God will provide? These are tough questions to answer for me. I think we need to remember who we call God and look back on how far he has already brought us. My life experience have proved my Lord true. How can I not trust and obey!

Wow. It's Quiet Here...
